LinkedIn Tips for Job Seekers Who Hate Posting

Want to be visible on LinkedIn without posting?

You can. Hiring managers read the comments on their own posts.

A thoughtful comment puts your name in front of the exact person you’d want to notice it, in about 5 minutes a day.

Key Insight:

↳ Posting is optional. For a job seeker, commenting is the higher-return habit.

↳ Comment on 3 posts a day from 10 people who matter in your field. Do that for 3 weeks, and many of them will know your name before you ever message them.

↳ It takes no original content and no performance. You’re adding to their conversation instead of starting your own.

Why It Matters:

↳ If visibility has felt uncomfortable, there’s a reason. Visibility without a strategy feels like exposure, and that discomfort is accurate.

↳ It’s not a character flaw. It’s a missing strategy, and the strategy can be small.

↳ Getting 12 views from 12 decision makers beats 4,000 views from strangers.

The 10-Word Profile Formula:

↳ Your headline answers one question in about 10 words: what you do, and for whom.

↳ The shape: I help [who] [do or fix what] [with what result].

↳ For example: “I help mid-size clinics cut patient no-shows with better scheduling.”

↳ Or: “Finance operations lead who closes the books 5 days faster.”

↳ Skip the title history. Someone arriving from your comment decides in a few seconds whether to keep reading.

The Details:

↳ Pick your 10 people. Hiring managers, team leads, and recruiters at the employers you’d say yes to.

↳ Add something real. A specific example, a question, or a respectful counterpoint. “Great post!” doesn’t count.

↳ One page of proof for anyone who clicks: 3 short work samples and a way to reach you.

↳ If you do post, once a week is plenty. Consistency beats volume, and both lose to relevance.

↳ Hashtags aren’t reach. Use them for scannability if you like the look.

Why This Isn’t Everywhere:

↳ A lot of LinkedIn advice comes from people whose business is posting: creators, ghostwriters, and course sellers. Commenting doesn’t sell a course, so it gets less airtime than it earns.

Why It’s a Win-Win I Wanted to Surface:

↳ You build recognition without becoming a content creator.

↳ The person you comment on gets a better conversation under their post.

↳ Hiring managers meet candidates who already understand what they care about.

↳ Your household gets you back the evenings a content calendar would take.
